Sustainability

We plant 100 trees per garment sold.

Sustainability is at the heart of Cara Mila, from the fabrics we hand select, to the way we produce and package our products. The apparel industry currently accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions* and our mission is to reduce our carbon footprint, whilst giving back to the environment.

With this in mind, we have chosen to partner with Eden Reforestation Projects: Employ to Plant. This inspiring charity aims to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local people to plant millions of trees every year. For each garment sold, we commit to planting 100 trees.

Eden has planted 700+ million trees since its founding in 2005, in nations including Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, and Central America. By offering fair employment to millions of people living in impoverished communities to plant trees, Eden Projects gives its community a consistent income so they can not only provide for their families but are also empowered to restore and protect forests on a massive scale.

As the reforestation effort goes on, healthy forests begin to emerge and the negative effects of deforestation begin to disappear. The trees provide a habitat for animals, purify water sources, restore ocean health, control flooding and erosion, and help to replenish the soil with nutrients needed for farming.
